Spoken "I though we would do a little song now for, uh, Jimmy Carter. Poor old Jimmy Carter, the Charlie Brown of American politics. You know, when you think about it, you don't hear an awful lot of Jimmy Carter songs, so I thought "Well, I'll fill that gap.". Poor guy, things never seemed to go too well for him and you could kinda they weren't ever gonna, after the confrontation with the swimming rabbit. Did you read about that? It really happened. People don't believe it but I happen to have a picture of it at home. That there was President of the United States, sitting in a row boat, on a pond, somewhere in Georgia, just catching a couple of rays, I suppose, and he looked up from his revere and what did he see but this furry head cutting the water with the obvious intention of boarding ship. And it was a rabbit, for God's sake, they're not even supposed to swim, and here it came "num num num num num num num num na". Panic broke out on the presidential yacht and there was Jimmy Carter splashing with his paddle, shouting, "shoe, shoe" or "get". Finally the rabbit got the point, turned around, and swam towards the bank where it was wrestled to the ground by Secret Service agents and led away in disgrace. Understandably, the President's men tried to suppress this story, and who can blame them? Um, wouldn't you? But what rotten luck. Somebody told me about it and that was that. What was I supposed to do, let that one go by without a song? I could never have faced myself; I was forced by my sense of duty to write this factually, and touching, ballad" President Carter got into his boat Wasn't in a hurry; wanted to float Think about the country, think about sin Along swum a rabbit and he tried to climb in And what did Jimmy say?
